Saltwell Park bird walks
Join the Friends of Saltwell Park on our seasonal guided bird walks with ornithologist Michael Turner. Discover the ever changing variety of birds in the park through the seasons.
Meet at 10am by the lake in Saltwell Park, Gateshead.
The walk will last for approximately two hours.

Sunday 12th July 2026 - 10am - Summer
Sunday 11th October 2026 - 10am - Autumn
Sunday 13th December 2026 - 10am - Winter

Walk the Charlie Rogers Trail
Brian Rankin, Local artist and author of ‘Pursued by Bulldozers’, takes us on a tour of the places in the Park that provided the backdrop for some of the late Gateshead artist Charlie Rogers many paintings and sketches.
Meet at the Saltwell Park gates near to the Little Theatre, Saltwell View, Gateshead.

Saltwell Park tree walks
Join the Friends of Saltwell Park for our guided tour and discussion of some of our park’s native and non-native trees. We will identify different species, learn about their characteristics, discover their benefits to both humans and wildlife and find out how they fit into our ecosystem.
Meet at 11am by the Little Theatre gate.
The walk will last for approximately 90 minutes.

Annual General Meeting
Our AGM will take place from 5-6.30pm in the Wailes Room, Caedmon Suite, Gateshead Central Library. Doors open at 4.30pm for refreshments. Everyone is welcome. Please come and join us and hear about our plans for the coming year. We look forward to seeing you.
