Saltwell Park Bird Walks
Join the Friends of Saltwell Park on our seasonal guided bird walks with ornithologist Michael Turner.​​​​ Discover the ever changing variety of birds in the park through the seasons.
​
Meet at 10am by the lake in Saltwell Park, Gateshead.
The walk will last for approximately two hours.

Remembrance Day poppies
Come along and join the Friends of Saltwell Park as we take a walk around the displays of poppies and crosses that commemorate this year's Remembrance Day, 80 years after the end of World War ll.

Meet us at 11am at the north door of Saltwell Towers

Christmas Carols Singalong
Join us at 2pm at the bandstand in Saltwell Park for a 45-minute carol singalong organised by local churches. There will be free hot drinks. This is always a very popular and well-attended event. Why not come and bring the family?

Saturday morning talks - winter months
We have organised some Saturday morning indoor talks for the winter months. We know many Friends have missed the regular events we used to arrange due to no longer having use of a permanent indoor venue, however we have arranged temporary use of facilities at The Little Theatre in Gateshead, next to Saltwell Park.
​
Little Theatre, 1-4 Saltwell View, Gateshead, NE8 4JS.
​Doors will open at 10.30am for tea, coffee and biscuits.
Pre-booking is not required.

Saltwell Park Tree Walks
Join the Friends of Saltwell Park for our guided tour and discussion of some of our Park’s native and non-native trees. We will identify different species, learn about their characteristics, discover their benefits to both humans and wildlife and find out how they fit into our ecosystem.​
​
Meet at 11am by the main entrance to Saltwell Towers.
The walk will last for approximately 90 minutes.
