Everyone is welcome at our Friends of Saltwell Park events and informative walks!
There is a charge of £1 for members of the Friends of Saltwell Park and £2 for non-members.
If you become a member of the Friends of Saltwell Park (see membership for cost) at the event you will pay just £1 for the event or walk.

Please check individual event or walk details below to see if pre-booking is required, some events and walks are limited to small numbers of participants.​
Saltwell Park Bird Walks 2025
Join the Friends of Saltwell Park for the second of our 2025 seasonal guided bird walks with ornithologist Michael Turner.​​​​
​
Michael’s walks are always popular and pre-booking is recommended. Use the button below to book directly with Michael.

Our usual event charge of £1 for members and £2 for non-members will be payable on the day.
You are welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks. Please remember not to leave any litter though and don’t drop food that may be harmful to the birds and animals in the park!

We meet at 10am by the lake in Saltwell Park, Gateshead.The walk will last for approximately two hours.

Friends of Saltwell Park Tree Walks
Join the Friends of Saltwell Park for our new guided tree walks within the park.​
​
Meet for a guided tour and discussion of some of our Park’s native and non-native trees. On the walk we will identify different species, learn about their characteristics, discover their benefits to both humans and wildlife and find out how they fit into our ecosystem.
​
We are limited to 15 people for this walk, so please book your place in advance using the button below.

Conversations with Sculptures Walk
Join the Friends of Saltwell Park for a 90-minute interactive walk with group discussions of Saltwell Park’s collection of sculptures.
We will discuss our reactions to each sculpture and find out about the sculptors’ intentions from walk leader Eric Nicholson.
We are limited to 12 people for this walk, so please book your place in advance using the button below.
